Field of Honour of the Executed Frasnes

At the beginning of the First World War, Frasnes suffered greatly.

On 26 August 1914, the Germans invaded the village and 4 Infantry Regiments of the German Army killed 10 civilians and destroyed 145 houses.

On 16 September 1914, 34 French civilian prisoners from the canton of Montmirail were shot without trial at the foot of the limestone quarry "Tienne du Lion".
These victims were buried together in a field of honour in the municipal cemetery of Frasnes. The names are listed on the memorial plaque.
