Memorial Sergeant Aubrey Cosens Uedem

A plaque on the wall of Mooshof farmhouse commemorates Canadian Sergeant Aubrey Coosens of the 1st Battalion The Queen's Own Riffles of Canada who was killed here on 25 February 1945 during the fighting around this farm by a shot from a sniper. For his brave conduct during this action, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.

The text on the plaque reads:
‘In commemoration of Sgt Aubrey Cosens, VC, 1st Battalion, The Queen's Own Riffles of Canada, who on the night of 25/26 February 1945 led the survivors of his platoon in the capture of these farm buildings witch were vital to the success of future operations of the gallantry, initiative and determined leadership, Sgt Cosens was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.
