This memorial commemorates the residents of Furness Vale who died during both World Wars. The different sides of the memorial bear the names of the victims and these texts:

"TO THE HONOUR AND GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE BRAVE MEN OF FURNESS VALE WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919"
"PEACE"
"AND IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN AND ONE WOMAN OF THIS VILLAGE WHO DIED IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939-1945" "HOW SLEEP THE BRAVE WHO SINK TO REST BY ALL THEIR COUNTRY'S WISHES BLEST. "
