This memorial, 'The Great War Roll of Honour', is a permanent tribute to the men and women from Nottinghamshire who died as a result of the First World War.
After the First World War, approximately 690 memorials were erected in various locations across Nottinghamshire; in churches, village halls, workplaces, schools, sports clubs etc.
As it was not known exactly whose names appeared on these memorials, this has been corrected by the erection of a new memorial in the Memorial Gardens, allowing the people of Nottinghamshire to remember for the first time all those from the area who lost their lives between 1914 and 1919.
The memorial is a raised circular design with a roll of honour of the 13,501 names of the victims laser cut onto 270 slates.
The memorial was unveiled in 2019 by HRH The Duke of Kent.
