This is the Bloc d'Entrée, or Bloc E, the entrance to the fort.
The entrance still has a fence, just as it did during the war. After fencing came another rolling bridge that could be slid in and out over a deep hole. Without a walkway, one could not get to the steel entrance door behind. This space was then also defended by a machine gun at the rear.
This block also housed the decontamination rooms for soldiers coming in from outside who might have been contaminated with chemical warfare agents such as gases or aerosols.
Once inside, one could continue into the fort from here.
Bloc E was defended by a machine gun. Furthermore, this block was defended by the slightly more southern Bloc VII and the more northern Bloc I.
In addition to this entrance, the fort had two more entrances. The entrance in time of war at Bloc Waucomont and the emergency entrance Toboggan.
