Gunturret south fort Lantin

This is one of three turrets that were present at the outer corners of the fort, outside the central massif.

The turret was equipped with a 57 mm cannon, capable of firing 36 shots per minute. These guns, like the guns in the contrascarpe, had been used for the defense of the fort itself. They could fire 20 shots per minute.

Dome east, like part of the central massif, is covered with black agricultural plastic to prevent moisture from entering. This part awaits further restoration.
