Observationpost l'Eperon fort Embourg

At this strategic point was located the so-called observation post l'Eperon of the fort of Embourg. The observation point is located outside the fort itself, but was connected to the fort via an underground tunnel.

The bunker was equipped with an F.M. turret (Fusile Mitrailleur) that was removed in later ages when the fort had lost its value for the defense of Belgium. You can clearly see where the turret was located and what a perfect view this bunker had of the east side of Liege. Furthermore, the bunker had an artillery opening for a machine gun on the north side and a searchlight.

The fort had two more observation posts, bunker EC 1 bis, (this bunker no longer exists, it was demolished and a house was built on the site) and bunker BE 8 at Tilff.

When the fort had served after in the two World Wars, but forts had lost their strategic value for the defense of Belgium, Fort Embourg was abandoned and dismantled. All the iron was sold as scrap metal.
