The central massif of Fort Boncelles is almost completely overgrown. In only a few places can one still find the edges of the massif in the undergrowth.
On top of the roof of the central massif is a hole where the turret with two 150 mm cannons used to be placed. (photo 1 and 2).
When the fort lost its strategic value for the defense of Belgium after World War II, the fort was divested and dismantled. All the iron was sold as scrap metal. So was the central dome. On the four corners of the central massif were the four 57 mm guns set up. These were for the proximity defense of the fort itself. These turrets were also removed.
At the time of World War I, these were still 57 mm guns. When the fort was rearmed, they were replaced by the 75 guns that were retractable.
The fort had 3 observation bunkers, bunker FB 2 (now demolished), bunker FB3 at Seraing and bunker BE 5 at Boncelles.
