Memorial Saint-Étienne-du-Bois

Memorial in memory of Édouard Kelner, born September 8, 1879 in Ay-sur-Moselle (Moselle), executed August 22, 1944 in Saint-Étienne-du-Bois. On August 22, 1944, after a clash with the Maquis in Saint-Étienne-du-Bois, the enemy captured hostages and shot them in retaliation. One of them was Édouard Kelner. He is buried in the municipal cemetery in Ay-sur-Moselle (Moselle). His name appears on the War Memorial Saint-Étienne-du-Bois and the War Memorial Ay-sur-Moselle (Moselle).
