Resistance-museum Amsterdam

The Resistance Museum Amsterdam is located in the historic Plancius building, opposite the main entrance to Artis. In 2022, the museum will be completely remodeled and redecorated. The permanent exhibition evokes a backdrop of the war years, in which 100 personal stories provide a penetrating picture of resistance and occupation. The emphasis is on the dilemmas people faced during the occupation and the right-but also wrong-choices they made.

The exhibition is made up of 6 periods, each of which begins with a film with animations and historical images. There are also many authentic objects, photographs and documents about the period 1940-1945 on display. The museum also regularly organizes temporary exhibitions on war-related themes. The expansion of the exhibition on the occupation and postwar struggle in the Dutch East Indies is in preparation.

The Verzetsmuseum Junior is part of the Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam and is aimed at a target group of 9 to 14 years old. The museum follows four children from different backgrounds. Reservations can be made for large groups of children or classes.
