Commonwealth War Graves Rachecourt-Suzémont

On the General Cemetery in Rachecourt-Suzemont are six Commonwealth war graves. These are the graves of F/S M.B.Summers, Sgt F.J.Neal, F/S J.Wilde, F/S G.Davies, Sgt G.E.Aldous and P/O P.E.Newland.
On 7 October 1943 at 20:32 departed from RAF Linton-on-Ouse, the Lancaster DS689 with the mission a raid over the city of Stuttgart in Germany. For unknown reasons it crashed into Rachecourt-Suzemont. In the crash, six crew members got killed, they are buried in this cemetery. The other two crew members took hiding in order to stay out of the hands of the Germans.
