Commonwealth War Graves Méan

On the General Cemetery in Méan are five Commonwealth war graves. These are the graves of Sgt E.F.Burrell, Sgt I.B.Griffiths, F/O D.A.Kingston, Sgt P.McCann and P/O G.W.McAllister.

On 11 August 1942 at 21:41 departed from RAF Middleton St.George, the Halifax W1245 with the mission a raid over the city of Mainz in Germany. For unknown reasons it crashed in Méan. In the crash, five crew members got killed, they are buried in this cemetery. The other two crew members were taken prisoner of war by the Germans.
