Commonwealth War Grave Froidlieu

On the General Cemetery in Froidlieu, municipality Wellin is a Commonwealth war grave. It is the grave of F/S Kenneth Lester Plank of the 420 squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
On 16 April 1943 at 21:14 departed from the RAF Middleton St.George the Canadian Wellington HE682 with the mission: a raid over the city of Mannheim in Germany. The aircraft was shot down by a German night-fighter and crashed in Froidlieu. In the crash, four crew members got killed, one is buried in this cemetery, the other three on the Heverlee War Cemetery. One crew member survived the crash, he was taken prisoner of war by the Germans.
