On the General Cemetery in Emmen is a Dutch War Grave of a resistance fighter from World War II. It is the grave of Hendrik Hadders. Hendrik was executed on March 8, 1945 on the Woeste Hoeve.

Former war graves
On the Municipal Cemetery in Emmen are three former Dutch War Graves. These are the former graves of Albert Beens, Bouke Duursma and Johannes Koopman.
Albert Beens was a Rotterdam policeman in hiding who joined the Emmen-illegality. On August 19, 1944 he was arrested by the Landwacht and taken to the police station in Emmen. Badly beaten, on the way to Assen in the Noord-Sleen murdered by the S.D.
Albert Beens is buried in the Dutch field of honor in Loenen. Koopman and Duursma are buried in the Dutch field of honor Grebbeberg.
