On 16 October 1932, there was a large fight between 800 members of the National-Socialistic SA and communist and social-democratic organisations. The police opened fire and two passers-by were killed. 14 other people were injured.
There was also a third victim of the fights: "Opa Wille" was beaten to death by the Nazis because he refused to greet the swastica-flag of one of them.
This memorial is dedicated to the protest against the Nazis.
