Coal Mine "Zeche Gibraltar"

The company-building of the coal-mine "Zeche Vereinigte Gibraltar Erbstollen" was used in 1933 by the national-socialist SA as education barracks and torture-building. Many political opponents were tortured here, sometime to death.

Nowadays it is the boat-house of the Ruhr-University. A plaque reminds of the nazi-era.
