From March 1944 to March 1945, there were several satellite camps (the "Neckarlager") of Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp, where inmates had to work in tunnels on aircraft engines. In total, about 10,000 inmates worked here. Of them, many died.
The largest camp was Camp Neckarelz. This museum, housed in a building used by the camp, is dedicated to the history of this camp and the other camps.
