Memorial Heinrich Heine
The statue of Heinrich Heine in the city-park was destroyed in 1933 by the National-Socialists because the poet Heine was Jew and democrat. In 1982, a new statue was erected at the Rathausmarkt. Plaques commemorate the destruction of the previous statue and the burning of books in 1933.
