Italian Artillery Battery Chaberton

This Italian battery was constructed from 1898 ti 1910 and was engaged in heavy comvat from 20 to 24 June 1940 with the French 154th RAP. During the fighting, 6 of the 8 turrets were destroyed by 280mm marine mortars. It was abandoned in 1943 by the Italian army and reused by Italian fascist troops in late 1944. The fort is currently standing on French soil and is a well known touristic sight in the region.
