At the municipal cemetery of Merksplas there is a calvary with a cross. Five memorial stones are placed around this:
The political prisoners and one objector who died in Germany.
The men of the 1st Polish Armored Division who liberated Merksplas.
A memorial stone for Pieter Hoogerheyde who was shot by the occupier.
For the soldiers of Merksplas during the First World War.
For five members of a resistance militia from Schaerbeek.
In front of the calvary is a semicircular court of honor with the graves of 91 veterans, soldiers and civilian victims of WWI and WWII.
This Memorial commemorates a number of political prisoners from Merksplas who died in German camps.
