Commonwealth War Graves Overijse (Tombeek)

At the cemetery at the church in Tombeek are seven Commonwealth war graves from World War II.
These are the graves of:

Sergeant (Flt.Engr.) George Edward Dunn, 963723, age 37
Warrant Officer (Obs.) Terence Michael Manning, 581403, age 22
Sergeant John Alexander Brock Marshall, 400813, age 24
Sergeant (Obs.) Joseph Potton Martin, 1499066, age 34
Sergeant (Air Gnr.) John George Mellor, 1008176, age 20
Flight Sergeant (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Terris Haggie Miller, R/72545, age 23
Flight Sergeant (Air Gnr.) Samuel Ross, R/71069, age 26

On August 28, 1942 departed from Middleton St.George airbase, the Halifax W7809 with the mission, a raid over the city of Düsseldorf in Germany. The aircraft was shot down over Belgium by the German night-fighter Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer and crashed down near Tombeek. All crew members died in the crash, they are all buried in this cemetery.
