This shipwreck is from an unknown cargo ship confiscated by the Japanese Imperial Navy in Northeast Asia and turned into a war ship. The ship was sunk during Operation Desecrate One (March 30 - March 31 1944) by the U.S. Army.
The "Helmet Wreck" today:
It lies currently at the bottom of the sea at a depth between 15 and 35 meters. It can be reached by diving with diving equipment.
This shipwreck is still considered to be the last resting place for killed Japanese seamen and soldiers. While diving at this site, please treat human remains and their personal belongings with respect.
