Saipan International Airport

This airport was originaly constructed by the Japanese in 1934 under the name Aslito airfield. During the Second World War, two squadrons of Mitsubishi A6MT Zero's were stationed here. They were used in the defence of the Marianas. The U.S. 27th Infantry Division seized the airfield in the night of 16 to 17 June 1944 and rechanged the name to Isley airfield. The U.S. army used this airfield for B-29 operations on Japan until 1945.

The airfield today:
Today its used for commercial purposes. A couple of Japanese structures are still standing at Saipan International Airport.
