During the Second World War, in the period from March 17 1943 till May 1 1944, 68 resistance fighters were shot in the Fort Bondues.
Today, in the remains of the 19th century fort, the museum 'Musée de la Résistance the Bondues' (Resistance Museum Bondues) is housed. The museum focuses on the French Resistance during the German occupation who was active in the region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
