Alte Nationalgalerie

The Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin was scene of heavy fighting during the Battle of Berlin in 1945 and was heavily damaged during the course of the battle. The neoclassical building was rebuild after the war and is currently housing an art museum.

Adolf Hitler visited the museum as a soldier in December 1916. Shortly before that, he had been discharged from the Beelitz-Heilstätten hospital, where he had been treated for injuries.
