Memorial Lancaster ED840

In the night of 17 June 1943, Lancaster ED840 of the 156 Pathfinder Squadron, exploded above Lier on its way back from Cologne. Four crewmembers (Squadron Leader J.C. Mackintosh, Flight Sergeant T.R. Dobson, Flight Sergeant P. Woodcock and Pilot Officer E. Monk) were killed. The other three (Sergeant T.R. Drinkwater, Sergeant E. Weare and Sergeant L. Ledamun) could ascape with their parachutes and were taken prisoner-of-war.
