Dutch War Graves General Cemetery Rheden

Heiderust General Cemetery in Rheden contains Dutch war graves of the Second World War.

Dutch soldiers
There are four Dutch soldiers buried here. A large memorial on their graves is dedicated to these war casualties.

Resistance
Carel Pruis.

He was a member of the resistance group who committed the attack on Rauter. He was caught together with an Austrian deserter named Hermann Kampfer in "the Imbosch" (woodland between Rozendaal and Loenen) by a German patrol while carrying guns on their bikes. They were then shot on the run. In the beginning of June 1945 they found his body. The body of Hermann Kampfer was never found and is probably still somewhere in "the Imbosch".

There are also other graves of members of the resistance on the cemetery. At the General Cemetery Heiderust in Rheden is a grave of two Resistance Fighters.

Civilian casualties
Heiderust General Cemetery in Rheden contains several graves of civilian victims of World War II. Most died during the liberation of the region, in April 1945.
Marinus and Hendrik Kip. Both died as forced laborers in Germany during World War II and are buried in a collective grave.
