On 13 and 14 March 1941, there were heavy German airstrikes in Clydebank, on an attempt to destroy John Brown's shipyard and Singer sewing machine factory. Only 7 houses in the city remained undamaged and there were 528 casualties and 617 seriously injured.
This memorial commemorates the attack and is located in the most destroyed area of the town.
