Fort Oostoever (W.N. 103 M.)

Fort Oostoever was built from 1833 to 1835. During the mobilisation (1939-1940), a 12,7 mm tl double barrel machine gun was placed on the for against possible enemy attacks from the air. The Dutch army unit 3 Pel.Lu.Mitr (3e peloton luchtdoel-mitrailleurs) was stationed here. During the German occupation (1940-1945) many defence structures were built on and near the fort. These defence structures were brought together under the name: Widerstandnest (W.N.) 103 M. The German army units 7./Marineflakabteilung 808 and 6./Marineflakabteilung 808 were stationed here from 1943 to 1945. The RAF bombarded the fort on 21 June and 15 September 1944.
