Commonwealth War Graves Municipal Cemetery Sint Jacobiparochie

At the Municipal Cemetery in St. Jacobiparochie, Municipality of Het Bildt, are nine Commonwealth War Graves.

There are three graves of unknown victims.
There is one Polish victim, kpl. Piotr Bednarski.

There is the crew of the Whitley bomber Z9306:

There are four graves of men who died on 27-12-1941:
Sergeant (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Eric Fieldsent, 1056135, RAF 77 Sqdn., age 21
Pilot Officer (Pilot) Charles Acton Chaplin Havelock, 64916, RAF 77 Sqdn., age 25
Flight Sergeant (Pilot) Donald Eric Ozment, R/61122, RCAF (RAF 77 Sqdn.), age 20
Sergeant (Obs.) Ronald Shuttleworth, 958722, RAF 77 Sqdn., age 21

On 27 December 1941 at 1653 departed from RAF Leeming the Whitley Z9306 with the mission: a bombing raid over the city of Düsseldorf in Germany. The aircraft was shot down over the Netherlands by the German night-fighter Ofw Paul Gildner 4./NJG4 and crashed down at 1957 near St. Jacobiparochie. Four of the five crew members died in the crash, they are buried in this cemetery. One crew member survived the crash and was taken prisoner of war by the Germans.

Also there is one crew member of the Halifax bomber W1179:

Flight Sergeant (Air Gnr.) Mcintgre William McLachlin, R/53905, RCAF (158 Sqdn. RAF), age 20

On 19 July 1942 at 2343 departed from RAF East Moor, the Halifax W1179 with the mission: a bombing raid at the U-boat docks in Bremen-Vegesack. The unit crashed down for unknown reasons in the Waddenzee. All crew members were killed in the crash. One of them is buried in this cemetery. The others are resting at Franeker, Terschelling, Harlingen and Den Burg in Texel.
