Remembrance Windows Salisbury Cathedral

These remembrance windows in Salisbury Cathedral are dedicated to:

- The soldiers of the Wiltshire Regiment who gave their lives in the Crimean War (1853-1856).

- The people of Salisbury who gave their lives during the Second World War.

To the memory of those from this city who gave their lives in the World War 1939-1945 and whose names are recorded in the Chapel of S. Michael in this cathedral, this window is placed here by the citizens of Salisbury A.D. 1949.

The members of the Glider Pilot Regiment who died during the Second World War.

In proud memory of the officers and sergeant pilots of the Glider Pilot Regiment who gave their lives in the war 1942 - 1945

There´s a bronze plaque with the following information:

The stained glass window above is a memorial to the men of the Glider Pilot Regiment who died between 1942-45. It was designed & made by Harry Stammers of York & dedicated by the Bishop of Salisbury in 1951. The Regiment was the forerunner of the Army Air Corps which was formed in 1957
