WN 21 H – Regelbau 617 Bunker Texla is a historic German command bunker on the island of Texel, Netherlands. It was part of the larger Texla bunker complex, which served as headquarters for the German occupation of the island during World War II. This complex originally consisted of 49 bunkers, of which only two have survived since the war.
History and significance
The bunker complex was strategically located and played a crucial role during the Georgian uprising of 1945, also known as the ‘Russian War on Texel’. In April 1945, Georgian soldiers, who had been deployed by the Germans, rebelled against their German commanders. The fighting that followed took place in and around the Texla bunker complex, making it an important battlefield.

The bunker was excavated in 2018. Today, the Regelbau 617 bunker on Texel is a place of interest for those interested in military history and World War II. The bunker is open to the public on special days and offers a unique opportunity to learn more about the history of Texel during the war.
