This monument has been erected in memory of the fallen from Kakopetros during the Second World War. The fallen are dated from the end of may 1941 (Battle of Crete), during the war and from 28 August 1944. The 28 August 1944 was an inferno for the village of Kakopetros. Earlier, there was a resistance action against the Germans. As revenge, the Germans killed some civilians. Also at a barricade, the Germans found a British Pound Sterling and British documents. The owner has been executed by the Germans.
