Pillbox FW3/22 Peene

This casemate is of type FW3/22. During World War II, these bunkers were used for the defense of the United Kingdom against a possible enemy invasion. They were built in 1940 and into 1941.

The aerial view of the area where this bunker is located was taken from the rear turret of an Avro Lincoln bomber during a reconnaissance flight for the Queens Coronation Review at RAF Oldham in 1953.
