Memorial Executions 15 December 1944

This memorial commemorates three men of the resistance who were executed on this location on 15 December 1944.

Their names were:
Pieter Jacobus Elias, 01-06-1907, Amsterdam
Hendrik Jacob Verkuijl, 13-06-1922, Gramsbergen
Matthijs Verkuijl, 18-06-1895, Haarlemmermeer

They were arrested in November 1944 after treachery and shot dead in retaliation at this location on 15 December 1944. Their bodies were buried in a mass grave in the dunes of Overveen and later reburied in the Bloemendaal Cemetery of Honour.

The original moment was replaced in 2020 by the current one consisting of three crosses crossing each other.
