Dutch War Graves Protestant Churchyard Makkum

On the Protestant Churchyard in Makkum, is a joint grave of six Resistance Fighters, all died on 07-04-1945 in Makkum.
These are the graves of:

Hobbes Dijkstra
Jacobus Pieter Keller
Sjoerd Adema
Fetze W. Elgersma
Hermanus Falkema
Hendrik Theodorus Lemsom

There is also the grave of:
Laurens Touwen, minister, resistance fighter, died 08-09-1944. He was arrested by the Germans after he tried to bail out another resistance fighter, and executed.

Johannes Albertus Walter, Mil.part Det. Londen, Res. 2e Lt. B.B.O., 06-07-1944, age 21.

Walter was a Dutch secret agent. He was aboard a British SOE aircraft, the Hudson FK790 which crashed in the IJsselmeer. The British crew of the aircraft is also buried in this cemetery.
