Memorial Crash Mosquito LR412

In memory of

F/O M.O. Slonsky and FLT/LT P. Riches
DFC who were killed on 9 February
1944 when their aircraft a Mark 9
Mosquito from squadron 540 serial
no LR412 crashed on Aran Fawddwy

Its location is at map ref SH 81560-22397 on Glanwnion Row at the entrance to Esgair-gawr farm.
Anyone wishing to visit the site travels N.E. along the A494 from Dolgellau towards Bala, and take the first right turn after the village of Rhydymain. One will then immediately go over the bed of a dismantled railway, and the engine site can be found about a mile away on the left, at the farm entrance. There are also farm sheds opposite on the right. This is mountainous terrain after leaving the A494, hence using the main road.
