Warrant Officer II Class Neil McIntyre Stewart from Canada is buried at the eastern general cemetery in Andijk. He was killed in the crash of Halifax JD271 (428 Squadron).
Stewart grew up together with his six brothers and four sisters. As a young man he was a very talented golf player. At the age of 18, he volunteered for the Royal Canadian Air Force in May 1942. After he completed his training, he was attachted to 428 Squadron as an Air Gunner.
During the night of 19-20 February 1944 he flew a mission to Leipzig on board of Halifax JD271. Due to an unknown reason, the airplane crashed into the IJsselmeer. On 29 April 1944, Stewarts body washed ashore at Andijk.
