This French casemate was constructed in the '30s as part of the Secteur fortifié de la Crusnes. The garrison consisted of 16 men of the 149th RIF. During the major German attack on June 21, 1940 on the Fermont ouvrage, this casemate was also attacked. Heavy machine gun fire from the casemate forced the shock troop to withdraw and call off the attack.
