On the site of the former sugar factory are three German wartime structures. They are a concrete bunker at the end of a dyke and two brick buildings. The function of the little bunker is clear: it served for defence. The other two buildings are mostly hidden under sand and vegetation. They have semi-circular roofs. The entrance is protected by a thick brick wall, called a shrapnel wall. This had to protect the soldiers present from striking bullets and flying shrapnel. Both buildings consist of two sections. At the rear, a chimney sits just above the structure.
