Jewish Memorial Barneveld

This monument reminds the civilians of Barneveld of the, during WorldWar2, prosecuted and killed jews. Secretary-general of Home Affairs Fredericks came up with a plan in the war, called 'Plan Fredericks', of which jews were placed in the houses 'De Schaffelaar' and 'De Biezen'. On September 29th 1943 these jews were transported to exportcamp Westerbork, of which they were again transported to Theresienstadt. With help of the privileged position most of the Barneveldgroup survived the war. Those that didn't survived all died of naturel causes.

The designer of the monument, Ralph Prins, was one of the inmates of 'De Schaffelaar'. Thanks to that fact it is a jewish-monument, an from the ground up Davidsstar of red bricks with within the heart a brown marble plaquette on a round plateau. On september 29th 1987, 44 years after the transport, it was revealed.
