Memorial Liberation Ancona

This plaque is in memory of the liberation of Ancona on 18 July 1944, by the 2nd Polish Corps. The text on the plaque reads:

"On July 18, 1944, through this port of Santo Stefano, the victorious forces of the second Polish Corps entered Ancona. In memory of those brave soldiers who fought and died for their and our homeland, contributing to the liberation of Italy from the nazi-fascist oppression. The municipality of Ancona placed this memorial on the thirtieth anniversary of the historic date, July 18 1974."
