Memorial Destruction of Kandanos

This monument has been erected in memory of the fallen from the destruction of Kandanos and the execution of 180 civilians by the Germans. This massacre took place on 3th June 1941. The reason for this massacre was that Greek civilians fought against Germans (near Kandanos civilians killed 25 Germans). After the massacre, the Germans placed panels in Greek and German to inform about the incident.
