Memorial Hero of the Soviet Union Peter Vernigora

This plaque is dedicated to the Hero of the Soviet Union Peter Vernigora who fell on 20 November 1943, during the fighting for Cherkasy. While fighting in this city, he destroyed five tanks, 2 mortars, six AT-guns, 15 machine guns, 13 vehicles and a high number of enemy soldiers. He was also responsible for the capture of 18 German soldiers, 14 vehicles and 3 guns.
