Memorial Execution Enter

This Monument is placed on the spot where Hendrikus de Vries was executed by members of the Sicherheitsdienst on 09-12-1944. De Vries was very active within the illegality, and his remote farm was a centre of resistance activities. After a raid on another address, the SD gets on his trail following an enforced confession. On that morning, two notorious SD officers reported to the farm. De Vries was forced to put the found typewriter and briefcase in the car and then allowed to go, according to the Germans. He turned around and was shot from behind in front of his wife. This was followed by a fatal neck shot.

An information board has been placed near the monument telling the story of Hendrikus de Vries and his execution.
