Soviet War Cemetery Friedensstraße

This war cemetery contains the graves of 42 Soviet (high) officers who fell in 1945 or later succumbed to wounds or illness in the military hospital in Eisleben.

The cemetery on Friedenstraße is located on a site originally intended for a victory monument. It is a cemetery where 42 officers and non-commissioned officers are buried in individual graves. Almost all of them died at the end of 1945, beginning of 1946 from illness or injuries in one of the hospitals.

From March 1947, the graves were provided with a headstone crowned with a red Soviet star. The name stones were only added later.

There are graves for senior officers, lower officers such as Captain Ivanov Wasili Ilisch who died on January 24, 1946, as well as a Junior Sergeant.

The memorial stone bears the following inscription:
"Eternal Glory to the soldiers of the Red Army, who died in the battles for their Fatherland in 1941-1945."
