Stumbling Stone Spoorlaan 32

This memorial stone (Stolperstein or stumbling block) commemorates:
* Leman Hijman Parfumeur, born 1860, deported 3 September 1944 from Westerbork, murdered 6 September 1944, Auschwitz.

Leman Hijman Parfumeur was the father of two daughters who also lived in Oss and who also were killed: Truitje Hes-Parfumeur (see her stolperstein at Hermanslaan 1) and Betsy Betje Parfumeur (see her stolperstein at Heuvel 79). His wife / their mother (Mietje Zwarenstein) died before the war. Leman Parfumeur lived in the spring of 1943 with his daughter Betje and son-in-law Hugo Hes. Leman was killed at age 84.

The small brassed plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
