A new war memorial in Kloosterzande unveiled on 25 april 2008.
The design is of the local sculptor Luc Inghels.
There was no official monument to the casualties of the Second World War.
Two bronze plaques in the former town hall were used for the Remembrance of the Dead.
The new memorial is a stone pillar with one hand, a firearm and one foot.
On the ground, around the memorial basalt stones are placed with the names of the war victims from the former town Hontenisse on metal plates.
From 2008 on the Remembrance of the Dead will be held at this memorial.
The bronze plaques were given an honorable place, in the 800-year-old Protestant church in Kloosterzande "Te Zande".
