Renovation of the Dutch War Graves in Oslo
The Netherlands War Graves Foundation renovated the Dutch War Graves at the Vestre Gravelund Cemetery in September 2016. During this renovation several in memorium headstones have been removed that were not marking an actual grave. The fourteen persons mentioned on these headstones are either buried elsewhere or commemorated in another way .
The six Jewish victims who were transported from Norway to Sweden and died just before the end of the war were buried in the Jewish cemetery at Malmo.
The seven members of the Dutch Merchant Navy and Royal Navy who found their final resting place in the sea around Norway are commemorated at the Royal Navy Memorial for Airmen in Soestorberg and at the Merchant Navy memorial ‘De Beeg’ in Rotterdam.
