Memorial Victims UPA Cracow

This impressive memorial is standing on the Rakowicki cemetery and commemorates the Polish victims of the Ukranian nationalist terror from 1945 to 1948. The UPA was the (extreme nationalist) army of occupied Ukraine and maintained until a certain time close ties with Nazi Germany. In the final phase of the war, the cornered UPA went on to partisan activities and incidental terrorism. The UPA remained active on large scale untill 1949, fighting against the Armia Krajowa (AK), the Peoples Republic Poland and the Soviet Union.
